ESPN To Stream Alternate Broadcast of Iowa State-Houston Men’s College Hoops Matchup With MindFly BodyCam in Place of Main Game Camera Angle

The alternate broadcast will stream on ESPN+ while the traditional broadcast airs on ESPN

ESPN will continue to experiment with the MindFly AI BodyCam this weekend, livestreaming an alternate feed where the unique angle will be at the center of a marquee matchup in men’s college hoops between No. 8 Iowa State at No. 5 Houston (2 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN+).

Streaming on ESPN+, CourtCast will offer an alternate view of the game from the perspective of three game officials. The live broadcast will still feature the same audio and graphics as the main telecast but the wearable-camera angles will replace the main game camera.

The traditional game broadcast will air as normal on ESPN but the body camera angles are available to and will be utilized by the front bench of that production.

While the MindFly AI BodyCam has been increasingly used across ESPN’s portfolio of live sports properties, this is the first time the network will use it on a college basketball broadcast. The system was used just this past week at the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off and has been deployed in the past by ESPN on UFL, Major League Baseball, the NCAA Men’s College World Series, the College Football Playoff, and the Stanley Cup Final.
